Roh Campaigns Hard at IOC Opening Ceremony

President Roh Moo-hyun continued his final push for Pyeongchang’s bid to host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games at the opening ceremony of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Guatemala City.

Mr. Roh and First Lady Kwon Yang-suk attended the opening ceremony Wednesday and the reception afterwards.

Presidential spokesman Chun Ho-sun said that the president met with some 50 committee members at the ceremony, asking for them to support Pyeongchang's Olympic bid.

Mr. Roh also spoke briefly with Russian President Vladimir Putin, reviewing preparations for the bids of their respective cities.

The South Korean leader is scheduled to deliver a two-minute speech to IOC members as part of Pyeongchang's final presentation.
