Seoul to Facilitate Feb. 13 Agreement on NK Nukes: Minister

Unification Minister Lee Jae-joung said Thursday that the government's North Korea policy will be implemented with a view to facilitating the six-party nuclear agreement of February 13th and paving the way for peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Lee told a news briefing that Seoul will do its best to ensure that its relations with Pyongyang develop constantly and dynamically through a number of upcoming dialogues including military talks.

He noted that once the first steps toward the North’s denuclearization are taken, the issue of establishing a peace regime on the peninsula will emerge as the most important challenge.

The minister said that a peace regime should be pursued in tandem with resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue, rather than prioritizing one over the other.
