Unification Minister Travels to Mt. Geumgang

Unification Minister Lee Jae-joung has set off on his first three-day visit to North Korea’s Mount Geumgang on Monday.

It is the minister’s first trip to the mountain resort, in which he is expected to visit civilian homes in Onjeong-ri that have South Korean government-funded furnace systems.

While at Mt. Geumgang, the minister will also tour a site where a meeting venue for separated families is being built, a drinking water plant, a civilian hospital which has received medical supplies from South Korea, and the Naegeumgang area.

Lee is also expected to meet with South Korean executives from Hyundai Asan, the company which operates Mt. Geumgang’s tourism projects.
