A national committee on reclaiming royal records from Korea’s last dynasty will hold talks with Japan’s Foreign Ministry on the return of Joseon Dynasty records currently held by the Japanese Imperial Household Agency.

The committee said the talks with Japanese officials on the return of the "Joseon Wangsil Uigwe" would be held Tuesday, adding that the Japanese side proposed the talks to discuss “important issues” concerning the records.

In 1922, Japanese administrator Terauchi Masadake, who oversaw the Korean Peninsula as colonial governor-general, destroyed the dynasty's royal library in Mount Odae and donated about 72 kinds of royal records including the funeral proceedings of Empress Myeongseong.
