North Korea has supplied television sets imported from South Korea's Hyundai Group between 1999 and 2000 to its military units. That's according to two North Korean escapees living in China.
The two made the claim in an article carried by the July issue of South Korea's monthly magazine The Keys.
The article said the late founder of Hundai Group donated more than 100 television sets, which North Korea distributed to army units after changing the brand name.
The two defectors were identified only as former residents of Hamhung and Musan.
The article quoted them as saying that North Korean soldiers know the South's products are of good quality.
The article also said the Pyongyang authorities have banned the sale and use of South Korean goods, but they have come to be traded freely in markets since the first inter-Korean summit in June last year and the reunion of separated family members.
