'Hostage Crisis Forces Koreans to Rethink Evangelism'

Time magazine says the hostage crisis in Afghanistan is forcing South Korean Christains to rethink about their evangelical ambition.

The U.S. weekly posted an online article titled “Korean Missionaries Under Fire.”

The report said that the execution of one of the hostages, Pastor Bae Hyun-kyu, brought much grief and condolences, but at the same time, non-evangelical Koreans were puzzled by the fact Saemmul Community Church sent its mission team to Afghanistan disregarding government warnings.

It added that, as churches in Korea number in the tens of thousands, they were sending people off to riskier missions for more publicity.
