Task force launched to reap benefits from int'l competitions

The government Wednesday launched a task force to come up with measures aimed at getting the most from the 2002 FIFA Korea-Japan World Cup finals and Pusan Asian Games in terms of contributing to the national economy.
Vice Finance and Economy Minister Kim Jin-pyo presided over the first meeting of the task force attended by officials of relevant government ministries and the Korean World Cup Organizing Committee (KOWOC) at the Palace Hotel in Seoul.
The task force will focus on culture and tourism, the sports industry, information technology, exports, investment and provincial economy.
