The six-party working group on economic and energy aid to North Korea will open for a second day Wednesday at the truce village of Panmunjeom.

The two Koreas, the United States, China, Russia and Japan will continue discussions on ways to provide the North economic and energy aid equivalent to 950-thousand tons of heavy fuel oil in exchange for Pyongyang’s complete disablement of its nuclear facilities.

The North reportedly wants energy aid in the form of investment, including assistance in building and repairing power plants for continuous production of energy.

South Korea, which is chairing the working group talks, plans to focus on fine-tuning the views of the participating countries.

Next week, a six-way working group meeting on denuclearization will open in China while Russia will host from August 21st a meeting on establishing peace and security in Northeast Asia.
