NK Confirms Inter-Korean Summit in Pyongyang

North Korea has confirmed that leaders of the two Koreas will hold summit talks in Pyongyang at the end of this month.

Releasing an inter-Korean agreement on the summit Wednesday morning, the North's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) confirmed the South Korean presidential office's announcement that President Roh Moo-hyun will visit Pyongyang to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-il from August 28th to 30th.

The KCNA added that the meeting between the two leaders will be significant in opening a new phase of peace on the Korean Peninsula, co-prosperity and national reunification by expanding and developing inter-Korean relations to a higher level in line with the historic June 15th, 2000 South-North Joint Declaration.
