Pres. Office to Form Advisory Group for S-N Summit

The presidential office said Friday that it will form advisory groups for the upcoming summit between President Roh Moo-hyun and North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

In particular, Cheong Wa Dae is considering ways to seek advice from former President Kim Dae-jung, who held a summit with the North Korean leader in 2000.

Cheong Wa Dae Spokesman Cheon Ho-seon said the groups will consist of leading figures and experts from various sectors of society.

He said that aides are studying ways to invite the opinions of experts, social leaders, and particularly those who had experience in the 2000 summit.

The presidential office is considering forming a "leaders' group" consisting of those with expertise and experience with inter-Korean issues, and another group of scholars and researchers with similar interests.

Cheon said that former President Kim Dae-jung is one who has by far the most direct experience with an inter-Korean summit, adding that Cheong Wa Dae is eager to hear his opinion.
