'Sep. Family Contacts to be Discussed at Summit'

Unification Minister Lee Jae-joung says the government will work to discuss phone contact and correspondence among separated families at this month's inter-Korean summit.

Visiting the Korea National Red Cross Monday where video family reunion sessions are under way, the minister said that the current video and in-person reunions are not enough.

He pledged to do his utmost to increase the reunions as upwards of four-thousand members of separated families pass away every year. He promised that year-round reunions would be possible once the reunion center at North Korea's Mount Geumgang resort is completed late this year.
