The New U.S. Ambassador arrives in Seoul Tuesday

The US embassy said Monday that New U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Thomas Hubbard will take up office Tuesday.
The career diplomat passed the Senate confirmation hearing in late July.
The 58-year-old started his diplomatic career in 1965 and has served as minister at the U.S. embassy in Malaysia and ambassador to the Philippines.
During the Clinton administration, Hubbard worked as deputy assistant secretary of state for East Asia and Pacific affairs and accompanied then U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright during her visit to North Korea last year.
Since the inauguration of the Bush administration, Hubbard has served as acting assistant secretary of state for East Asia and Pacific affairs.
Born in Kentucky in 1943, Hubbard graduated from the University of Alabama in 1965.
