North Korea Asks for Summit Delay over Flood Damage

Presidential spokesman Cheon Ho-seon says that North Korea has requested to delay the inter-Korean summit set for late this month to early October.

In a telephone message sent Saturday to South Korea's National Intelligence Service chief Kim Manbok, the North proposed the delay citing urgent flood damage relief work and that Seoul can reset the date any time in early October.

The governent decided to accept Pyongyang's proposal and notified them that the summit will be held from October second to the fourth.

In the message, North Korea noted no change in its stance on holding the summit and that results of working-level preparatory talks remain valid.
