South Korea to Be Chairman Country of the UNGA

South Korea is close to becoming the Chair Country within ten years, after the nation advanced into the United Nations.
As Han Seung-soo; the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, is set to be appointed as Chairman of the United Nations General
Assembly (UNGA) with a one-year term at the 56th opening ceremony of the UNGA slated for Tuesday, during which the nation will be granted Chair Country status .
The UNGA Chairman is a duty which represents the UN with Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the UN.
Minister Han is going to take part in the UN activities and make a tour of various countries for a year as the chairman.
The government plans to take advantage of the status of Chairman Country in the diplomatic sector.
The government has already dispatched a diplomatic team to the UN headquarter in New York to expand diplomatic relations with foreign countries.
In meetings with heads of foreign countries, the government will ask for their full support on the reconciliation and cooperation between South and North Korean governments.
