Gov't to Send 10.5 Bln Won Flood Aid to NK

The government will provide ten-point-five billion won in aid to North Korea to provide relief from heavy flooding.

The aid package includes seven-point-one billion won worth of emergency aid from the government and over three-billion won worth of aid from South Korean civic groups.

The government is ready to ship construction materials including cement after receiving from Pyongyang a list of its needs.

Aside from the initial ten-point-five billion won aid package, Seoul will reportedly provide up to 60 billion won in additional flood aid from the Inter-Korean Cooperation Fund.

On Wednesday, the government will hold a meeting to approve the aid plan.

Last year, Seoul provided some 76 billion won worth of flood aid to North Korea including rice and cement.
