South Korea's Gloria Park (Park Hee-jung) won the 1 million dollar Williams Championship Sunday, shooting a 6-under 64 final round for a combined 9-under par 201 to record her first USLPGA Tour win.
Park's come-from-behind victory saw her finish one stroke ahead of Donna Andrews of the United States at the 6,233-yard par-70 Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
With the victory, Park, who joined the tour last year, becomes the sixth Korean golf star to have won on the U.S. women's tour, following Koo Ok-hee, Pak Se-ri, Kim Mi-hyun, Pearl Sinn and Grace Park.
The victory gave her 150,000 dollars in prize money and raised her earnings for the season to 279,821 dollars. But perhaps of more importance to Park is the fact that the win gives the 21 year old exempt status on the USLPGA tour for the next three years.
Park, who moved to Australia in the seventh grade to improve her golf, won three consecutive Australian Junior Championships from 1996 and the Amateur Championship in 1997.
