The National Red Cross said Thursday that it exchanged with its North Korean counterpart lists of separated families to be reunited in early October so that the two sides could verify the whereabouts of those family members.

Based on a list of 200 candidates from each side, the Red Cross organizations of the two Koreas will identify by September 13th those whose families are dead or cannot be found.

The list will then be whittled down to one hundred for each side by September 18th.

The two sides also exchanged lists of one hundred families for another reunion event that will follow the October reunion.
