NK to Reopen Gaesong Complex

North Korea will reopen the inter-Korean industrial complex in Gaesong to South Koreans, removing a barrier to access that it said was due to preparations for the second inter-Korean summit talks.

The South Korean Unification Ministry said some 40 members from the National Red Cross and 60 businessmen from Busan were planning to visit the North Korean complex on Tuesday.

It also said that officials from the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs and the Ministry of Labor would make the trip to Gaesong on Friday.

The resumption of access comes two weeks after Pyongyang had requested Seoul to limit visits to the border city from August 20th to 31st, citing a need to prepare for the inter-Korean summit, which has since been postponed to early October.

A Unification Ministry official added that the North was likely to limit access again in late September, just prior to the rescheduled inter-Korean summit.
