The country's two air carriers on Wednesday decided to cancel flights to the United States that depart here in Seoul during the day in the wake of the worst terrorist attacks ever in that country. Korean Air (KAL) have already cancelled Flight KE081 whose departure was originally scheduled for 10:00 a.m. for New York and KE001 scheduled to leave Incheon at 1:35 p.m. for Los Angeles.
Asiana Airlines also determined to cancel four passenger flights and two freight flights, all scheduled to depart for the United States during the day.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Construction and Transportation on Wednesday instructed Incheon International Airport and 16 regional airports to strengthen security measures following simultaneous terrorist attacks Tuesday.
The ministry has established a 15-member task force to examine security measures at the country's airports.
