The government plans to designate no-fly zones above ten World Cup venues during the soccer tournament next year.
The decision came Wednesday ... a day after terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
The World Cup security task force led by the National Intelligence Service will also step up security around the new World Cup stadiums.
Police and the military are members of the 2002 World Cup Security Control Headquarters.
The headquarters said in a statement that it will review the nation's previous security plans as it cannot rule out terrorist acts during the 2002 World Cup.
The security office will tighten air surveillance from the ground and security checks of people and baggage at airports and ports during the games' period.
South Korea and Japan will share the 64 games at the 2002 World Cup ... the first to be held in Asia.
