Roh: S-N Summit Outcome not to Burden Successor

President Roh Moo-hyun said Wednesday that his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il in early October will not produce outcomes that would burden his successor.

Presidential spokesman Cheon Ho-seon said that Mr. Roh made the remark while presiding over a meeting of the presidential advisory group on the inter-Korean summit.

The spokesman quote the president as saying that he will not make any agreement that conflicts with other inter-Korean accords made by previous administrations over the last three decades.

Mr. Roh also said that he will take a fundamental and comprehensive approach to the summit.

Stressing the importance of eliminating distrust and instability through the talks, the president declared that a meeting between the leaders of the two Koreas would be meaningful in itself.
