A global documentary broadcaster will air a program on the mask dance festival in the southeastern city of Andong.

The Los Angeles chapter of the Korea Tourism Organization says it has pushed for the Discovery Channel to cover the Andong mask dance in its world festival series and has recently received word that a film crew will come to Korea to shoot footage.

The crew will stay in Korea from late this month to early October for about a ten-day period, going to Andong to cover the festival and staying in Gyeongju and Seoul for pieces on Buddhist culture and life in the capital area.

North Gyeongsang Province officials will jointly support coverage of the events with the tourism organization in the hope that the world festival series program would raise awareness of Andong and attract tourists.
