In a message to U.S. President George W. Bush Monday, South Korean President Kim Dae-jung expressed the country's full support for future U.S. countermeasures against the deadly terrorist attacks last week based on the Korea-U.S. defense alliance treaty.
President Kim said the Korean people respect the American people's united efforts to cope with the incident under his leadership, and wholeheartedly support efforts to wipe out terror with a firm determination, including the designation of the attack as an act of war.
Based on the spirit of the security alliance, Korea, as an ally, will spare no cooperation or support to the United States, and will take part in international efforts in support of the U.S. action to root out terrorism.
