Ex-President Optimistic About NK's Denuclearization

Former President Kim Dae-jung says he is optimistic about the six-nation nuclear talks and inter-Korean relations.

He also said North Korea will abandon its nuclear programs if the February 13th six-way nuclear accord is implemented succcessfully.

Kim made the comment in a meeting with former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former State Department North Korea policy coordinator Wendy Sherman in Washington on Friday.

On the upcoming inter-Korean summit, the former president said it will be successful, citing the progress in the six-nation nuclear talks and U.S. President George W. Bush's support for the South-North summit.

As for possible agenda at the summit talks, Kim said South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun and North Korean leader Kim Jong-il will likely agree to boost inter-Korean relations for the success of the six-nation talks and expand South-North economic cooperation.
