The South Korean business community is seeking to set up a nongovernmental forum to boost inter-Korean economic cooperation, anticipating brisk cross-border activity after the planned summit in Pyongyang.

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday said it is seeking the launch of the tentatively named “Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation Forum." The forum would be a consultative body providing information on the North Korean business environment and promoting business exchanges and cooperation between South and North Korean firms.

The forum, which is set to launch next month, will comprise about 50 members from North Korean enterprises, government agencies, and organizations representing various business sectors.
