Pres. Roh's Border Crossing to Be Aired Live

President Roh Moo-hyun's anticipated crossing of the military demarcation line (MDL) next Tuesday on his way to the inter-Korean summit in Pyongyang will be broadcast on live television.

The presidential office and a joint press corps said Friday that the two Koreas have approved the installation of television cameras near the inter-Korean border to capture Mr. Roh's crossing live.

The installation of broadcasting equipment will start soon.

Cheong Wa Dae said the president is considering walking across the MDL to mark in a symbolic manner the first overland trip to the North by a South Korean president.

Seoul's summit preparation committee will likely finalize the plan Friday at the earliest.

If the president does walk across the border, the scene will likely be broadcast live across South Korea and around the world.
