Foreign media outlets are covering President Roh Moo-hyun's trip to Pyongyang for the inter-Korean summit as a special news item.

U.S.-based broadcaster CNN has covered the president's journey from the public address he made prior to his departure.

The Associated Press, Japan's Kyodo and China's Xinhua news agencies began coverage from the point Mr. Roh and First Lady Kwon Yang-suk left the presidential office.

CNN, BBC and all major foreign news outlets showed the couple live as they stood before the military demarcation line an hour later.

The AP, AFP, Reuters and Kyodo said that with their walk across the border, the president and his entourage's made a symbolic step into North Korea.
