Chinese media have shown great interest in President Roh Moo-hyun’s visit to Pyongyang for his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

China’s state-run Xinhua news agency on Tuesday noted that Mr. Roh became the first South Korean leader to walk across the inter-Korean border, and that he was greeted by North Korean officials on the northern side of the demilitarized zone.

The agency also carried reports on the president being greeted by Kim during a welcome ceremony held at the April 25th House of Culture in the North Korean capital.
