A pro-North Korean newspaper in Japan says that President Roh Moo-hyun's walk across the military demarcation line Tuesday on his way to Pyongyang has become the talk of the town for residents of the North Korean capital.
Covering Pyongyang citizens' reaction to the historic border crossing, the Choson Sinbo reported Thursday that the North's state-run Korean Central Television also broadcast footage of the event.
According to the paper, Korean Central TV showed footage of Mr. Roh's border crossing for about two minutes beginning 5:35 p.m. Tuesday.
The Choson Sinbo said that residents of the North Korean capital in viewing the scene reaffirmed the June 15th, 2000 Joint Declaration that relinked what the report described as "the severed vein of the nation."
The paper also reported that even after the last TV news ended at ten p.m., sleepless Pyongyang citizens were still talking about national reunification late into the night.
