Gov't Begins Summit Follow-up

The government held a summit steering committee meeting Thursday to analyze the results of the inter-Korean summit and discuss follow-up measures.

Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, who chaired the meeting, said he had a feeling that the summit would produce a good outcome, adding that the results of the six-way talks reaffirms that inter-Korean ties and the multilateral nuclear disarmament process are in a virtuous cycle.

He ordered government agencies to be prepared to explain the results of the summit and to implement follow-up measures.

Participants comprised the presidential chief of staff and officials of ministries concerned at vice minister-level and above, who reviewed the summit process and final declaration. The committee plans to brief the Korean public on the summit results, and to share that information with neighboring countries including the United States, China and Japan.
