'Summit Possible on Launching Peace Talks'

Foreign Minister Song Min-soon has hinted at the possibility of a summit on declaring the start of talks on a permanent peace regime between the two Koreas.

Leaving for Europe Sunday, Minister Song said the leaders of countries related to the end of the Korean War can declare the launch of the negotiations depending on how smoothly the process of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula goes.

The two Koreas are technically at war since the conflict ended with a ceasefire agreement signed by both Koreas, the United States and China.

The leaders of the two Koreas in last week's summit agreed to hold a three or four-way dialogue on replacing the 1953 armistice with a permanent peace mechanism.

Minister Song said the end of the Korean War can be declared when the peace negotiations begin or end.
