'Summit Paved Way for Korea-led Peace Process'

Unification Minister Lee Jae-joung says the inter-Korean summit has laid a stepping stone to accelerate a peace process on the Korean Peninsula led by the two Koreas.

During a forum held Tuesday at the Korea Institute for National Unification, Lee said the two Koreas plan to initiate and lead the process to build a peace regime on the peninsula.

He said the inter-Korean agreement to replace the Korean War armistice with a peace treaty has paved the way to institutionalizing Korean peace.

The minister also called the proposed West Sea special zone for peace and cooperation a test case for the peace process and the building of a South-North economic community.
