The Economic Cooperation Committee meeting between Korea and Southeastern States of the United States has been cancelled in the wake of the terror attacks in the United States.
That meeting was scheduled for October fourth through the fifth.
The Korea-U.S. Economic Council said Friday seven U.S. states notified the council that they won't be able to attend the annual meeting due to the tragedy. This is the first time the meeting has been cancelled since it was set up in 19-86.
One hundred-80 business leaders and state government officials from such states as Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia were to attend the meeting in Seoul.
The committee was established with the aim of expanding trade and investment between Korea and the Southeastern states of the United States.
Meanwhile, two separate delegations from the states of Washington and Missouri also cancelled their visits to Seoul. They were due in Seoul next week for trade talks.
