The Army Headquarters said Monday...the Siberian tiger from North Korea's Mount Paekdu has been chosen as the symbol of the Korean army.
A headquarter official said...the army's motto was also picked which is "Elite Army! Unite Onward!"
He said...the choices were made among thousands of applications received by the army over two months from May 10.
The symbol's name, "Hokuk-i" (nation-defending tiger), was drawn by Choi Soo-yong, a 24-year-old Kongju National University student, and the motto was written by Major Park Joo-kyong, 39, of the Army War College.
