Inter-Korean Economic Coop. Body to Launch in Nov.

A consultative body to oversee private inter-Korean economic cooperation will launch early next month.

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which has led efforts to form the consultative body, said Friday that its Chairman Sohn Kyung-shik will also head the new committee.

The committee will comprise some 60 members, including officials of Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor, Hyundai Asan and other firms taking part in inter-Korean projects.

The committee’s main tasks will include sharing information on North Korea’s investment environment, gathering opinions on ways to resolve investment problems and playing an active role of mediator to promote exchanges between firms of the two Koreas.
