NK Vows Patient Efforts for Peace on Peninsula

North Korea has reaffirmed its intent to resolve the nuclear issue through dialogue in accordance with the last wishes of its late founder Kim Il-sung.

North Korean state-run media said Monday that a government representative underscored Pyongyang's devotion to patient efforts for peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and the surrounding region at a conference held on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly.

The North's news agencies quoted the delegate as saying at last Monday's conference that full implementation of the six-party declaration of September 19th, 2005 depends on whether the other countries deliver on their promises when the North completes denuclearization.

He said that implementation also depends on what the U.S. and Japan do to end hostility toward the North.
