S.Korea to Build Shipbuilding Complex in NK

The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation has unveiled plans to build a shipbuilding complex in Anbyeon, North Korea.

The corporation's President Kim Chil-doo disclosed the plans Tuesday during a factory dedication ceremony at the Gaesong Industrial Park. The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation plans to send a survey team within the year to conduct a feasibility study.

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Company plans to build a large-scale plant on the North's east coast to serve parts suppliers whose annual output is expected to reach 200-thousand tons.

Kim said his organization will discuss the project with the government.

Anbyeon, a port in Gangwon Province, is where the two Koreas agreed to build an inter-Korean shipbuilding complex during their recent summit.
