Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun will visit North Korea next week to discuss proposed tours to Mount Baekdu.

Hyun unveiled her plans for the trip at the presidential office Tuesday during a meeting of business leaders who had accompanied President Roh Moo-hyun to Pyongyang earlier this month.

The Hyundai executive is said to be eyeing next May or June for the launch of tours to the Korean Peninsula's tallest peak.

During her trip, Hyun will discuss with North Korean officials ways to open a direct route to the North's side of the mountain and seek to expand the existing Mount Geumgang tour program.
