U.S. ‘NK Denuclearization Must Meet Standards of Parties Involved’

The U.S. government has emphasized that North Korea’s nuclear dismantlement declaration must meet the standards of the U.S. and all other countries involved in the process.

State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said in a regular briefing Friday that Washington has its own ways of verifying information provided by North Korea on its progress toward denuclearization.

He added that no country would be willing to sign off on a declaration as acceptable if it does not meet the standards of the U.S. and the other parties involved in the six-party talks.

The U.S. is expected to send a team of nuclear experts to the North’s Yongbyon nuclear reactor site on Thursday to tour three of its facilities.
