A pro-Pyongyang newspaper in Japan says it's inevitable for North Korea and the United States to declare an end to the Korean War while implementing the September 19th, 2005 agreement to dismantle the North's nuclear programs.

The Choson Sinbo said Thursday that formally ending the war will become a focal point when the North's nuclear dismantlement process enters a critical stage.

The paper also said that if the leaders of the two nations should meet on the Korean Peninsula to declare an end to the war, it would greatly affect geopolitical conditions in Northeast Asia.

The Korean War ended in 1953 in an armistice, leaving the two Koreas still technically at war.
