Number of Mt. Geumgang Tourists Sets New High

The number of tourists traveling to North Korea’s Mount Geumgang resort hit a monthly high in October.

According to Hyundai Asan, the operator of the Geumgang tours, a total of 64-thousand-447 tourists traveled to the scenic mountain resort last month, topping the previous monthly record of 43-thousand set in August 2005.

Hyundai Asan forecast that this month will see the second-largest number of visitors as some 49-thousand people have made tour reservations.

The company added that at this rate, this year could see a new annual record for the number of visitors. Currently, the record stands at some 300-thousand people posted in 2005.
