A leading American daily says North Korea is supplying evidence to the U.S. to prove that it never intended to produce highly enriched uranium for use in nuclear weapons.

The Washington Post on its Sunday edition quoted unnamed American and South Korean officials as saying North Korea granted U.S. experts access to equipment and documents to disprove Washington's accusations over Pyongyang's uranium enrichment program.

The disclosure is part of a deal reached in the six-party talks to end the North’s nuclear program by year’s end.

The report quoted a South Korean official as saying the North's efforts mark an important change in actively trying to convince the U.S. and other nations.

The newspaper also said Pyongyang officials hope Washington lifts its sanctions after the North completes the declaration of all of its nuclear programs by year's end.
