A South Korean official knowledgeable on inter-Korean ties says South Korea proposed parliamentary talks with North Korea last month and this month, but the North has yet to respond.

The parliamentary talks were agreed on at the inter-Korean summit early last month.

Seoul made the proposal in two rounds of preparatory talks for the South-North prime ministers' meeting.

The source expected that Pyongyang will respond during prime ministerial talks opening Wednesday in Seoul, as the North Korean delegation includes Workers' Party official Choe Sung-chol, who serves as vice chief of its United Front Department.
