Korean, Chinese and Japanese scholars have gathered in Seoul for a two-day conference to discuss cultural identity and cooperation among the three countries.

Meeting at Dongguk University on Thursday, participants expressed concerns about rapid aging, environmental degradation and other trans-border issues. They agreed on the need to form a regional community in East Asia like the European Union to seek mutual prosperity.

On Friday, the conference will hold discussions on the spread of culture, medical and bio-ethics and other regional issues.
