A pro-North Korean newspaper published in Japan says North Korea raised the repair of its aging railroads and roads as top priority at the ongoing South-North prime ministerial talks.
The Chosun Sinbo said Thursday that the North Korean delegation to the talks proposed as a top priority issue that South Korea repair the highway linking Pyongyang and Gaesong and the railway linking Gaesong and Shinuiju.
The report said constructing joint shipbuilding plants and facilitating transit, communications and customs service for the Gaesong Industrial Complex came next in the line of priority.
The paper said if inter-Korean economic cooperation projects get in full swing, the demand for cross-border logistics will surge, requiring the renovation of transportation infrastructure.
