The two Koreas have agreed to operate inter-Korean railway cargo services and hold prime ministers’ talks every six months.
Cargo service will begin mid-December on the Gyeongui Railway between the South’s Munsan and the North’s Bongdong.
The agreement was adopted Friday at the close of an inter-Korean prime ministers’ meeting in Seoul.
Under the agreement, Seoul will build a communication center at the inter-Korean Gaesong Industrial Complex to start Internet and phone services in the North Korean city next year.
A minister-level committee will also be set up to establish a peace zone in the West Sea. Its first meeting will be held in Gaesong next month.
In addition, the two Koreas will create a joint fishing zone in the West Sea in the first half of next year.
They will also devise detailed plans next year on building a special economic zone in the North Korean port city of Haeju.
The two sides also agreed to hold prime ministers' talks every six months. The next meeting will be held in the first half of next year in Pyongyang.
