President Roh Moo-hyun says he'd like to see more progress in efforts to link the trans-Korea railway (TKR) with Russia's trans-Siberian railway (TSR).

Deputy presidential spokesman Kim Jeong-sup said the president made the remark Friday while meeting with the visiting chief of Russia's ITAR-TASS News Agency, Vitaly Ignatenko.

At the meeting, Mr. Roh expressed his wish for speedier progress in efforts to connect the two railways. He also discussed his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

In response, Ignatenko said Russia would fully support Seoul's policy towards inter-Korean peace and mutual prosperity.
