The government will decide whether to support a United Nations resolution on North Korean human rights just before the vote on Tuesday.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Cho Hee-yong said European Union members and others who proposed the resolution were fine-tuning the wording and would soon circulate a final draft.

On Seoul’s position, Cho said the government would decide after reviewing the final draft.

From 2003 to 2005, South Korea cast a blank ballot or did not vote at all on U.N. resolutions concerning North Korea's human rights situation. Last year, for the first time, it voted in favor of the resolution.
