A South Korean official will likely participate as an observer in the ongoing U.S.-led disablement of North Korea's nuclear facilities.

A team of working-level U.S. officials has been in Pyongyang to oversee disablement since early this month.

A government source said Wednesday that a Seoul official will go to Pyongyang early next week to take part.

The source said the visit will last three to four days, stressing the significance of South Korea's participation in the U.S.-led process.
