Gov't Approves inter-Korean PM Agreements

The government has approved agreements made at last week's inter-Korean prime ministers' talks.

Senior Government Information Agency official Ahn Young-bae said the Cabinet passed the three main agreements on Friday. The accords aim to promote inter-Korean peace and prosperity, economic cooperation, and the creation of a joint peace zone in the West Sea.

Vice Minister Ahn said the peace and prosperity agreement will be presented soon to the National Assembly for ratification after it's approved by the president.

Ahn added, however, the government will not seek parliamentary ratification of the two other accords, noting that they require no extra budget spending.
